Hlynur Gauti comes from a small village called Egilsstaðir in eastern Iceland. He is currently working there as a forest consultant for the district Fljótsdalshérað.

Earlier Hlynur has worked with Guðjón Kristinsson and with Björn & Guðni, the first Icelandic firm specializing in traditional turf- and stone constructions. He also worked as a gardener with Jón Júlíusson and his company Garðmenn.

Hlynur studied landscape architecture at the Copenhagen University and has a degree in urban forestry and greening from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.

Video making has been Hlynurs major hobby and profession. He has been working as a cameraman, editor and vision mixer for years. He now uses these competencies both in designing and explaining his works.

Hlynurs specializes in trees and shrubs. His knowledge in vegetation is often a source for highly creative design solutions, which are usually playful and experimenting.
